This is something for the Sri Lankan record books. Three children of a famous artistic family are getting married on the same day!

The siblings in question are Madhavee Wathsala, Akhila Dhanuddara and Sajitha Anuthathara, the children of veteran stage, television and film actor Jackson Anthony and his wife Kumari Sandalatha Munasinghe.

The family sources say this has become a rushed affair as the youngest son Sajitha is due to go abroad soon to study for his Master’s Degree. Eldest daughter Madhavee will marry Milan Dhananjaya while Akhila will tie the knot with Amanda Nicola and the youngest son Sajitha will exchange marriage vows with Buwinika Manisha. All the children are graduates of Sri Lankan universities, with arts running in the family.

Marriage rituals according to Buddhist and Catholic traditions

Madhavee’s partner is employed at an airline. Akhila’s bride who was employed previously has quit her job, and Sajitha’s partner is a talented dancer who appeared with him in a music video, Swarnapaliye, going viral at the moment.

Jackson is a veteran of Sri Lankan show business, counting more than 30 years’ experience as an actor playing major roles in more than 30 films and a director of three films, in addition to a long list of TV dramas and stage plays. Jackson who is also a talented singer has won numerous national awards for acting and direction. He is playing the lead role in a Malayalam movie which is being filmed in India. His wife Kumari is a singer and an actress. Madhavee is a television presenter, actress and a singer. Akhila is a TV presenter, actor and model while Sajitha, a talented star in the younger generation who began his acting career in Sooriya Arana in his early teens.

According to the three-fold wedding invitation, a ceremony will be held at a church in Kadawatha on January 18, followed by ‘poruwa’ ceremonies and a ‘varied musical entertainment program’ at a hotel in Kadawatha ‘until the departure of the newly-wedded couples’. A reception will be held at Wennappuwa on the following day. Jackson is Catholic while his wife hails from a Buddhist background and hence the marriage rituals in harmony with the two faiths.

Judging by the mass interest and buzz in the social media there is no doubt that this is  going to be the Sri Lankan wedding of the year. Newstrails.com is wishing Madhavee,  Akhila, Sajitha and their future partners all the best for a happy and successful future!
